Teaching Injection Moulding Through 3D Printed Tools
A short reflection on a first-year Product Design studio exercise exploring injection moulding through 3D printed tools, wax sticks and a hot glue gun. Students made small spinning tops while learning how material flow, cooling, pressure, clamping and mould design can shape the final part and how manufacturing defects can become useful clues for learning.

When the Material Pushes Back: Teaching Tooling Through 3D Printed Moulds
A short reflection on a Year 3 Product Design project exploring how 3D printing can be used as tooling for moulding and casting. Students designed gypsum desk tidies and open-source mould systems, learning through testing, failure, material behaviour and the realities of making something that others can reproduce.
